Herbert H. Rupp, Jr. "Butch" "Buddy" June 28. 1943 ~ July 9, 2008 65 Years old
Herbert Rupp Jr.,
TWENTY - THIRD PSALM The Lord is my sheperd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures; He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul; He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness; for His name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil, for Thou art with me; Thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies; Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
In Loving Memory
Herbert Rupp Jr., 65, was shot several times at close range and killed near his home in the 500 block of Maple Street over a long-simmering dispute about a handicapped parking space. Police and neighbors said three or four shots were fired and Rupp fell into the parking space that had been at the center of the dispute.

A Volkswagen Rabbit said to be involved in an argument that led to the slaying of a city man is towed to Reading's City Hall.
Parking is at a premium on the narrow street that overlooks Mount Penn and downtown Reading. But relatives and neighbors of Rupp said they never thought a parking dispute would lead to murder.
"He never backed down from anybody in his life" "It's a tragedy."
Neighbors, who knew Rupp by the nickname "Buddy," said he kept to himself and never bothered anyone.
Neighbors described Rupp as jovial. "He was a nice guy" "He got along with everyone and talked to everyone. He was willing to help people and stuff like that." "I think it's just today's times, anything can happen. How could something like this happen over something as stupid as a parking space?"
Rupp, who was the block captain of the neighborhood Crime Watch, had been arguing with his neighbor about the handicapped parking spot for a few weeks, police and neighbors said.
