Hope Babel September 6, 2002
Hope Babel Berks County Unsolved Murder
Click Here to read more about Hope

Hope,  47
of Shoemakersville
was beaten unconscious
and died of smoke inhalation
after someone set her house
on fire to cover the crime.
She was a hard working single mother of four.

Police again review 2002 Shoemakersville murder.
Investigators re-interview more than 200 people in an effort to solve the slaying of Hope E. Babel

March 5, 2006 Reading Eagle News Article

She lived in a small apartment on Main Street
in the quiet town of  Shoemakersville.
Hope was a nurse,
she took care of people

Who would have the audacity
to do such a thing?

When the flames were extinguished, Hope's body was found.
She died of carbon monoxide poisoning.

Police say they couldn't find any enemies thru their investigation .

But someone knows what happened......
and the truth needs to be told.

"It's a good possibility that she knew the attacker"

The smallest piece of information could help police put Hope's killer where they can't hurt anyone else ever again.

Please speak out!

If you know anything about Hope,
who set the fire or who beat her unconscious
the police need to hear from you.
Maybe you saw something that you didnt think was important at the time -
but it could bring justice to Hope and her family.

HOPE
Hope is not an idle term.
Hope is the reality that can and does reveal itself
to us at God's choice hour.
To hope is to know the secret of achievement.
