Jason was a Reading High school student planning to graduate in February. He was the father of a six month old son and was planning on marrying his longtime sweetheart in two days.. He dreamed of becoming a construction worker or plumber.

Jason, 19, was shot about 2 p.m.
The gunman was last seen running into the Spring Street subway and getting into a silver car.

Jason E. Rodriguez was a new father and was just two days away from marrying his longtime sweetheart when he was shot and killed walking home from Reading High School.
"Tell everybody that he has a family that loved him very much"

Today is the day before Thanksgiving.. A day to give Thanks for the many gifts we have The most important gift is life. Yet we have those, whose total disregard for life have not only ended Jason's life, but has damaged all those who knew and loved him. What will it take to end the violence? Jason and a friend saw the accused threatening to hit a girl at the high school and intervened, telling him not to touch her.
"We defended a girl he was threatening to slap, That's the way we were raised". The accused replied 'I got you.'

The jury acquitted a 21 year old classmate of Jason Rodriguez in the deadly shooting on Nov. 24, 2010.
Three months after Jason's death, his mother, who needed oxygen tanks to help her breathing, suffered a fatal heart attack.
"My mom is dead because of this. It just hurts. It hurts. To see that there's somebody that shot my brother and is out in the street," said Miriam Rodriguez.
"Something needs to happen, like, we need answers, We waited a year and three for months for nothing. We left that courthouse with nothing."
Family members say they will always remember Jason.
