Marcus came to Reading from Mexico with his teen age sister Anna. He lived in an apartment in the 200 Block of Greenwich Street. On November 30th, Anna asked Marcus to go to the store for her. “On the way back from the store right outside the apartment is where the confrontation occurred.” Police believe the motive is Robbery.
“It looked like the robber was frustrated the victim wasn’t reacting to his commands and just shot him”
The assailant, described as a thin, short Latino male in dark clothes, ran along Greenwich Street and was last seen darting down an alley.

Marcus Mendoza was unknown to police before his slaying. The gunman appeared frustrated with Mendoza during a likely robbery attempt, police say.

Police have interviewed witnesses to the murder but lack enough information to identify a suspect. Following the autopsy, Anna took her brothers remains back to Mexico and did not return.
