Polly was hit by a vehicle while crossing the intersection of 6th & Penn Avenues @ 10:30 PM. Polly had stopped and was turning to get out of the way when she was struck. The driver never stopped. The vehicle was found a few blocks away.

West Reading police charge suspect in death of hit-run victim
* 1/18/08 Suspect was charged with homicide by vehicle, reckless driving, driving at an unsafe speed and related offenses in Polly's death which occured 6 months ago.
* Suspect had been arrested for drunken driving three times in the year before the hit-and-run crash — in Spring Township, Upper Pottsgrove Township and in New Jersey four weeks before the fatal crash.
How can this be? Why did this suspect still have a drivers license? Police said broken pieces from the inside of the car were found in suspects house the next day and she had scratches and other injuries. *Bail was set at $25,000, which suspects family posted and suspect was freed.
RESPECT FOR LIFE? Someone can drive a 2007 Silver Mercedes-Benz C-230 But can't stop to help an elderly woman they hit on the road!
The vehicle that struck Polly was speeding and did not slow down or stop. There are many victims here! Polly Her Family Her Friend's Her Neighbors in the community. The witnesses ..... Suspects family complained that police made a big scene with guns drawn and arrested * in front of her 8-year-old daughter when * would have voluntarily surrendered. This accident happened six months ago... Polly is dead, a mother, grandmother & friend.. No one stopped to help her!
People who knew Polly A. Rassow say that people always seemed to feel better whenever she was around.
She seemed to enjoy every minute of life.
“She was friendly, she was happy and everybody liked her".
She was a personality on the avenue, you could say.
